Festive Shoegaze Punch
By Mark Abraham· Oct 18, 2013
1 copy of Slowdive’s Souvlaki, puréed
1 copy of Pale Saints’ The Comforts of Madness, puréed
1 copy of Ride’s Nowhere
1 copy of Lily’s Eccsame the Photon Band, freeze-dried
1 copy of My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless, vinyl
1 40oz bottle of high quality gin
1 unit of the most expensive stereo system you can get your hands on
53gr Elizabeth Fraser’s hair
Place Eccsame the Photon Band in a Ziplock bag and seal tightly. Using a rolling pin, smash Eccsame the Photon Band into little pieces.
Pour the gin into a large container, along with the smashed bits of Eccsame the Photon Band. Place container in a dark, cool place, and let infuse for 3 days.
Place Nowhere in a bowl of 1 cup warm water for 1 hour to rejuvenate.
Pour contents of bowl into blender. Add Souvlaki and The Comforts of Madness. Purée on high speed.
Place a fine mesh strainer over a large bowl. Pour contents of blender into the strainer, and use a spatula to push contents through the strainer into the bowl.
Put the bowl in the room with your stereo equipment. Play Loveless at deafening volumes. The whole album. Don’t skimp on this step, or the punch will taste underdeveloped and over-earnest.
Meanwhile, strain the gin. When Loveless is done, combine gin mixture and shoegaze mixture together in a large punch bowl. Garnish with Elizabeth Fraser’s hair.
